| Abstract | In previous studies, Lages et al. (2025) and Andrade et al. (2026) identified tooth marks on the holotype of Procaroloameghinia pricei (MCT.M.805+924) based on the presence of a fracture and a polished/sanded surface associated with the observed punctures. However, experimental studies plus micro-CT analyses reidentified these marks as bioerosions attributed to necrophagous invertebrates. We discussed the presence of ‘sanded’/‘polished’ surfaces as diagnostic features of tooth marks and made a brief comment about the association of fractures with punctures to identify Nihilichnus fissuratus. |
